Sardoal

Sardoal

Sardoal, a small town since the 22nd September 1531, is head of a municipal council which lies at the confluence of three distinct regions: Ribatejo, Alentejo and Beira Baixa, and from which it has drawn the roots of its cultural identity. Its clay-limestone soils and landscape, combined with the abundance of water and its microclimates, give us excellent products "from the land": olive oil, wine, honey, fruits and vegetable products (especially the famous Couve (cabbage) of Valhascos). These, combined with ancestral popular and conventual knowledge, are presented in splendid traditional dishes, both salty and sweet.
