Constância

Constância is a small town since the 30th May 1571 and is the seat of a municipality that rises on the green banks of the rivers Tejo and Zêzere. Formerly known as Punhete (from the Roman pugna tagi - fight of the Tagus) due to the rebelliousness of the waters at the confluence of the two rivers. Its name was changed in 1836 by King Maria II due to the constancy of its inhabitants in supporting the liberal cause. Its gastronomy is closely linked to the rivers that embrace it and to the products of the lands they wash over, as well as to the fusion of popular and conventual cultural heritage, resulting in rich flavours that give us an unique experience.
